She wanted a bereavement discount for her neice to take the bus across the country to her mother's funeral. The mother had died in a car accident, everyone was broke. She was being irrational and it made me irrational, I almost told her that if the girl pretended to be a runaway and went to the cops, we could put her on a bus for free. If she found a disabled person wanting to go across the country for some reason, we could give them a ticket.
I didn't, though. I said I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do. She said do something, you do something now. I told her, I can transfer you to my supervisor. She made a strangled animal sound that I took to mean yes, please do, thank you very much, and I transferred her.
