I got my citation in the mail, for when I was moving into the dorm and we left the dog in the room to go out to dinner. My RA hand-wrote an entire page, an entire page of detail regarding the type of whine, reactions of the people on the floor, exactly what everyone was doing like it was the Kennedy assasination and not a mutt who was scared to be alone. Come on, it's not like the dog was smoking pot.

I got four packages in the mail yesterday. One was the citation letter, and a letter from the hall director clearing me and my reefer-fantastic pooch. Second, I got my answering machine. It smells like delicious technology, I set it up and spent thirty minutes recording my greeting. Third package was my Dave Matthews CD, I realized I really can't stand four tracks in a row on that album but the ones I like make it worth it.

My fourth package was the stunner. It was in a big, heavy Amazon.com box. Patrick mentioned getting me speakers for my birthday and I was a little confused that he had gotten them at amazon. When I opened the box, however, I found a double hardbound edition of Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, including CD and handy display case. Someone paid fifty bucks and sent it to the address I recently sent out. Someone I know bought me this really fucking nice gift, and I have no idea who it is.

I feel like I'm getting my hopes up thinking it's Brian, but we have discussed the merits of a nice dictionary before. (Yeah, phone sex is for pussies.) This dictionary set, which smells like a new car, is a very thoughtful gift for an English major such as myself. I'm kind of afraid to touch them but they're on my shelf, wedged happily between soy sauce and eyebrow wax. The pages are indented and speckled brown. I'm kind of giddy that someone would do this for me.

And I really hope it's Brian doing it for me, because if it's not Brian then I have no idea who is being a thoughtful and considerate man or woman. They're beautiful books. I'll keep you posted on my mystery benefactor.
