I went to Student Health to make sure I don't have strep throat or anything."Tell me your symptoms," said the nurse, whom I noticed is also my gynecologist.
"Well," said the Lampshade, "I have a stuffy nose, nausea, sore throat, a cough, body aches and a headache. I'm a little dizzy, too."
"Are you coughing uncontrollably?"
"Not really. Well, maybe, I guess sometimes I can't help it."
"Any mucus?"
"Um, I don't know, I guess not."
"You seem warm, but I see you don't have a fever."
"Right, well, I took some DayQuil this morning, and I think there's a fever reducer in that--"
"...and you said you had a cough?"
"Yeah, I have a cough."
"Let me give you something for your cough."
So now I have twenty bits of benzonatate, a cough suppressant. Side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, congestion, headache, feeling of burning in eyes, and nausea. Now, I'm thrilled that I'm not going to be coughing, but I'm not looking forward to the stuffed, sleepy eye burning I seem to have in store. Curse the Student Health center and their lack of easy cures.
