Hey dudes. Evan visited last week and he's visiting again next week. This long-distance thing might actually survive. He might have Thanksgiving free, which means he could come down here and then maybe the two of us could drive down to meet my parents. Well, I've already met my parents, so it would be no huge thing for me but kind of exciting anyway for other reasons. The air is cooling down around here. I open the windows at night and keep the air conditioning off. I made French Onion soup tonight. Matt invited me to play in his D&D campaign starting tomorrow after dance class. It's another thing to do, and I've never really played the game before so I might not be any good at it but I'm looking forward to trying, at least. I'll let you know if it is lame. I did attempt it once and it was lame, but I was playing with a bunch of people who always played and by the time I created a character I was already dead.
Everyone is being kind of loud in the living room. They came over to play instruments and I feel bad because I should have remembered that Ian was trying to sleep. My fault.
Okay, so tomorrow I get up early to go play the violin and dance. Then we go out for lunch, then back to play that nerd game for nerds. And then I'll have the rest of the afternoon and evening to myself and this stack of new books I have. Evan brought me Lullaby, signed by Palahniuk, and I'm kind of scared to touch it but really eager to read it, too. At used book sales we found Sister Carrie, A Man in Full and Nabokov's Lectures on Literature - a beautiful hardbound textbook. And then he loaned me all of these science fiction books he loves. Not to mention the books assigned to me for class and my own little story, growing stale in my head and preparing to be forced out for class on Wednesday. It's good though, having too many books. I'm ready to take a sick day and lay around reading.
I wrote a four-page letter regarding poor customer service to Ross: Dress for Less. It's just a joke letter, I wanted to see how much I could write and how much they'll give me for it. I did mention I would enclose the receipt from my purchases that day, though, and now I can't find the stupid thing anywhere. The frustrating part is that it's one of those things where I was sitting there and looking at the receipt and thinking to myself that I should put it in a safe place.
